Growing silence
I stood up abruptly, the movement cutting through the silence like a knife. "I can't do this anymore," I said, my voice shaking - not with anger, but with exhaustion. Drew looked up, surprised, almost helpless, as if he had long since lost control of the conversation. "Nina, wait," he began, but I just raised my hand. "I've waited enough," I replied, tears stinging my eyes as I finally spoke the truth. The air between us was full of memories, but it felt empty. I knew at that moment that we had come to the end of a chapter that neither of us could save.

Suspicious folder drop
As we looked away and back at each other uncertainly, Drew fiddled nervously with his jacket until he finally pulled out a folder, which dropped to the floor with a thud. Our eyes locked on it at the same time and my curiosity was immediately piqued - what could be hidden inside that seemed to carry so much meaning? For a brief moment, Drew's nonchalant expression gave way to a trace of panic before he tried to regain his composure. But it was already too late - my suspicions had been confirmed.
