Drew followed me, his voice soft and pleading, "Nina, wait," he tried to apologize. But his words barely matched the determination burning inside me. I couldn't pause now - not when I was so close. "We can talk later," I replied sharply, unfazed by anything he said, because I needed clarity. His apologies blew away on the wind as I concentrated on finding out everything I needed to know.
