Finally, Drew lifted his gaze and looked me straight in the eye. "Nina, I think we need to reassess things," he said softly, his voice barely more than a whisper in the heavy air. I stared at him, incredulous, as if his statement was going to roll over me like a wave. "Re-evaluate what? Us? The baby?", I asked, my voice firm even though my heart was racing. He avoided my gaze, shifting uneasily in his seat as if he could escape the tension between us. His words lingered in the room like invisible weights - each one pressing heavily on my chest, threatening to shatter my resolve.

A hopeless search
I couldn't stand it another second - the confines of the car were suffocating me. I opened the door with a jerk and stepped out into the cool air, breathing hastily as if I could force the confusion out of me. My eyes wandered across the parking lot, desperately searching for something familiar, something normal - but everything seemed displaced, strange, somehow wrong. Even the ground beneath my feet felt unsteady, as if it would give way at any moment. Drew's behavior had destroyed my entire equilibrium, shaken my universe, and I clung to the last bit of clarity I could find.
